This month’s readings feature Tom McAllister (The Young Widower’s Handbook), Dave Housley (Massive Cleansing Fire) and David Hicks (White Plains).
A Philadelphia native, Tom McAllister lives in New Jersey and teaches at Temple University. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, an editor at Barrelhouse, and the author of a memoir, Bury Me in My Jersey: A Memoir of My Father, Football, and Philly. The Young Widower’s Handbook is his first novel.
Massive Cleansing Fire is Dave Housley's fourth collection of short fiction. His previous books are If I Knew the Way, I Would Take You Home, Commercial Fiction and Ryan Seacrest Is Famous. He is one of the founding editors and all around do-stuff people at Barrelhouse Magazine, and one of the co-founders and organizers of the Conversations and Connections writer's conference.
David Hicks grew up in Harrison, NY and earned his PhD in Literature at NYU. He is the author of short stories published in Glimmer Train, Colorado Review, Saranac Review, and many other magazines. David is a professor of English at Regis University, where he also co-directs the Mile-High MFA in Creative Writing.
