Sonia Shah is a science journalist and the prize-winning author of Pandemic: Tracking Contagions, from Cholera to Ebola and Beyond, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the New York Public Library Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism. She has written for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and many others. Her TED Talk, “Three Reasons We Still Haven’t Gotten Rid of Malaria,” has been viewed by more than one million people around the world. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland.

Rosemary Slick is a Guest Engagement Specialist at the National Aquarium, where she has worked since 2018. Her interest in conservation communication stems from her experiences traveling within the US and beyond and observing the way people and animals of different cultures and ecosystems respond to varying environmental challenges. She has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and an M.A. in Conservation Biology from Miami University.
