Susan Weis-Bohlen: Seasonal Self-Care Rituals: A Workshop

The Ivy is thrilled to welcome Susan Weis-Bohlen for a workshop inspired by her book Seasonal Self-Care Rituals: Eat, Breathe, Move, and Sleep Better According to Your Dosha. This event will take place in-person, on our back patio.

Author and Ayurvedic practitioner Susan Weis-Bohlen will help us tune up our health and boost our immune system with remedies and rituals based on the ancient Indian system of wellbeing and healing, Ayurveda. Through seasonal adjustments, you can optimize your health and face challenges head one with just a few handy tools and techniques, including what to eat and when, breathwork, movement, meditation, and the use of essential oils. Susan will offer a brief Ayurveda 101 so you can become familiar with the individualized path it offers and see how easily a few changes can lead to robust health, reduced stress, better sleep, and an increased sense of happiness and satisfaction.

According to the ancient texts of Ayurveda, “All diseases begin at the junctions of the seasons.” When we push against the essence of each season—going to bed late in the winter, eating sweet, heavy foods in the spring, or neglecting our skincare in the summer—we fall out of sync with nature and optimal health.

Drawing on more than a decade of experience, Chopra-certified teacher Susan Weis-Bohlen guides you through simple yet profoundly effective shifts to take a more holistic approach to your health, in line with traditional wisdom but adapted to modern lifestyles. In this book you will find:
-An Introduction to Ayurvedic practices, including meditation, breath work, chakras, mantras, yoga, and aromatherapy and essential oils
-A dosha quiz to assess your mind-body constitution
-A practical guide to the seasons explaining their relationship to each dosha
-Personalized Guidance to build a daily routine for each season
-Food as medicine recipes like Golden Milk for Sleep and Good Digestion and Spring Detox Soup

An essential guide to year-round health, Seasonal Self-Care Rituals will lead you through healing rituals and natural remedies to support your ideal body weight, increased focus and mental clarity, a healthier gut and microbiome, improved stamina, better sleep, and emotional wellness.

Susan Weis-Bohlen is a full-time Ayurvedic consultant, and - pre-COVID, taught cooking,
meditation, and led sacred site tours, mostly in India. Susan’s personal journey into the
Ayurvedic lifestyle began when she came across the Ayurvedic cleansing technique of
panchakarma. What began as the release of damaging toxins and personal difficulties eventually
grew into an impassioned vocation. She has since studied with the best teachers of Ayurveda,
both in the US and in India. Susan knows exactly how challenging it can be to come to Ayurveda
as a beginner and has dedicated her life to sharing the fruits of her studies with students all over
the world.
In 2004 Susan opened Breathe Books, a metaphysical bookstore, in Baltimore, and in 2012 she
added an Ayurvedic/vegetarian café. After 10 years of running the shop, Susan decided in 2014
to close the store and café and concentrate fully on her Ayurvedic practice.
In 2008 Susan received her first certification in Ayurveda from the Chopra Center in California.
In subsequent years she studied with Dr. Vasant Lad in New Mexico and India. In addition,
Susan is certified in Ayurvedic cooking from best-selling author and teacher, Amadea

Susan's first book, which became a best-seller, Ayurveda Beginner’s Guide: Essential Ayurvedic
Principles: Practices to Balance and Heal Naturally
came out in February 2018. It has sold
over 30,000 copies and has been translated into 4 languages. Her new book, Seasonal Self-Care
Rituals: Eat, Breathe Move and Sleep Better According to your Dosha
, was published in
