The Ivy is thrilled to welcome poet Elizabeth Hazen for a reading from her latest collection, Girls Like Us! Liz will be joined by Rose Solari, the poet and publisher who published Girls Like Us, and Jessica Anya Blau, author of Mary Jane. This event will also be to celebrate the paperback release of Mary Jane, which came out on April 5th. This event will take place outdoors, in person on The Ivy's back patio, and will be moderated by local author, Kathy Flann.

Elizabeth Hazen is a poet and essayist. Her poems have appeared in Best American Poetry, American Literary Review, Shenandoah, Southwest Review, The Threepenny Review, and other journals. Alan Squire Publishing released her first book, Chaos Theories, in 2016. Girls Like Us is her second collection. She lives in Baltimore with her family.
Rose Solari is the author of three full-length collections of poetry, The Last Girl, Orpheus in the Park, and Difficult Weather; the one-act play, Looking for Guenevere, in which she also performed; and a novel, A Secret Woman. She has lectured and taught writing workshops at many institutions, including Arizona State University’s Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing; the University of Maryland, College Park; St. John’s College, Annapolis; and The Centre for Creative Writing at Oxford University in Oxford, England. Her awards include the Randall Jarrell Poetry Prize, an Academy of American Poets’ University Prize, The Columbia Book Award, an EMMA award for excellence in journalism, and multiple grants. In 2010, she co-founded Alan Squire Publishing, a small press with big ideas.
Jessica Anya Blau was born in Boston and raised in Southern California. Her novels have been featured on The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN and NPR, and in Cosmo, Vanity Fair, In Style, Country Living, Bust, Time Out, Parade, Oprah Summer Reads and other national publications. Jessica's short stories and essays have been published in numerous magazines, journals and anthologies. Jessica co-wrote the script for Love on the Run starring Frances Fisher and Steve Howey. She has taught writing at Johns Hopkins University and The Fashion Institute of Technology. Currently, Jessica lives in New York.
