Outside on the covered patio...THE HOT L POETS SERIES continues with poets Lindsay Bernal and Sylvia Jones! The reading series is co-sponsored by Smartish Pace magazine and Baltimore Poets Theater. The reading includes two featured poets, along with an open mic, so feel free to bring a poem to read!
Lindsay Bernal is the author of What It Doesn't Have to Do With (University of Georgia Press, 2018), winner of the National Poetry Series competition. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Blackbird, Conjunctions Online, The Georgia Review, Oversound, Poem-a-Day and other journals. She coordinates the MFA Program in Creative Writing at the University of Maryland and curates the Rum & Redaction reading series at Old Line Spirits in Baltimore.
Sylvia Jones is a writer, editor, and prison abolitionist. At the moment, she works as an associate editor for WEST BRANCH and is a 2021-22 literary editing fellow at The Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts at Bucknell University. Sylvia's writing has appeared or is forthcoming in DIAGRAM, Shenandoah, Windfall Room, New York City’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, The Hopkins Review, Poet Lore, and elsewhere. She earned her MFA at American University in Washington D.C. She lives in Baltimore, near the train station with her partner, and their buff tabby.
