The Ivy is delighted to present a book signing and meet-and-greet with local author and illustrator duo Jude Lombardi and Book Karnjanakit! Jude and Book have designed a charming, lovely children's book called The Bees Needs introducing children to the intricacies and importance of bee behavior. After you meet and chat with Jude and Book, we recommend a stroll around The Ivy gardens to search for the pollinators!

About the Author: 
Jude Lombardi, a lifetime Baltimore resident, is a social worker by trade who became a sociology professor and video-ethnographer. In retirement she started caring for honeybees at the Mt. Washington Arboretum and now a member of Mt. Washington Preservation Trust Board. Lombardi is interested in educating people of all ages as to the needs of the honeybees. She thinks that the best way for doing this is through the arts.

About the illustrator: 
Book Karnjanakit is a cartoonist and illustrator originally from Bangkok, now living in Baltimore. A MICA graduate, she is now an adjunct professor there. Every day she is learning and unlearning about gender, sexuality, social justice, and cultural differences. Her free time is often spent watching birds, thinking silly thoughts, exploring the city, and eating yummy food.
