A novel of awakening and atonement, North Facing is an exquisitely realised story that revisits a seminal boyhood moment as it plays out -- with unexpected and sinister consequences -- against the backdrop of political upheaval in South Africa.

Tony Peake is a novelist, short story writer, biographer, and sometime literary agent, notably for Booker Prize-winner, Damon Galgut. He has written three novels—A Summer TideSon to the Father, and North Facing—and a biography of the film director and author, Derek Jarman. Tony edited a collection of short stories on the theme of Seduction, and his own short stories have been included in a variety of anthologies. He was born in South Africa, but has spent his adult life in the UK, either in London or in north east Essex where he lives with his civil partner and fellow South African, Peter Cartwright. 

Judith Krummeck is a writer, broadcaster, and immigrant living in Baltimore. She is the evening drive time host for Maryland’s classical music station, WBJC, 91.5 FM, and she is the author of two books—a memoir in essays, Beyond the Baobab, and a biographical memoir, Old New Worlds. Her screenplay adaptation of André Brink’s final novel, Philida, is currently in development in South Africa. Judith holds an MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. Her work has appeared in publications such as The Rumpus, Atticus Review, Past Ten, Monkeybicycle, and Baltimore Fishbowl.
