Please join us at Bird in Hand for a special event with Ann Goldstein, translator of Elena Ferrante, Alba de Céspedes, Jhumpa Lahiri, and others! This event, entitled "Translating Italian Female Voices," will feature a discussion of Ann's work as a translator in general, and on her latest work in particular: Forbidden Notebook by Alba de Céspedes.
The publisher Astra House is relaunching Alba de Céspedes, one of the most important journalists and writers of the 20th century, starting with Goldstein’s translation of Forbidden Notebook.
This event is sponsored by the Alexander Grass Humanities Institute, the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, and the Italian section at Johns Hopkins University, and is open to the public.

Ann Goldstein is a former editor at The New Yorker. She has translated works by, among others, Elena Ferrante, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Elsa Morante, and is the editor of the Complete Works of Primo Levi in English. She has been the recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship and awards from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
