The Ivy is delighted to present a conversation and Q&A with Anjili Babbar and Rafael Alvarez in celebration of the new book Finders: Justice, Faith, and Identity in Irish Crime Fiction! Finders is an extensive survey of Irish crime writers and the ways in which they subvert literary tradition and genre conventions. In this event, Anjili Babbar, the author, will discuss the topic with Rafael Alvarez, one of the writers featured in the book.
Anjili Babbar is a writer, professor, and scholar of Irish and British literature, with a particular focus on crime fiction and criminality, including literary forgery and deception. She has published on topics ranging from Irish crime fiction to representations of Irish folklore in popular culture. Her new book, Finders: Justice, Faith, and Identity in Irish Crime Fiction, is an extensive survey of Irish crime writers and the ways in which they subvert literary traditions and genre conventions.
A life-long Baltimorean, Rafael Alvarez is a former City Desk reporter for the Baltimore Sun and screenwriter for The Wire. He is the author of more than a dozen books, most recently Don’t Count Me Out, the biography of a very bad man who now helps hundreds of people recover from drug addiction.
