In Dialogues on the Beach, John McLucas introduces us to his hero, Jim, who has maintained a chaste love for his straight college friend, Tony, for nearly twenty years. When Tony and his wife, Rachel, rent a house in Rehoboth and invite Jim to join them, he meets Joe, an actor/model from LA. Suddenly, all four are forced to make elaborate recalibrations of their attachments. McLucas has an ear for the subtle gradations of language, and knows how an account of honest friendship can deliver sincere dividends.
Meanwhile, Daingerfield Island follows Elmo Katz, a defense attorney from Alexandria, VA. Katz is no stranger to the bureaucracy and twisted truths that lurk in the justice system, but his world is upended when he finds himself entangled in the roots of a complex terrorist plot. Places he once navigated with ease are now obscured by shadows. Katz must weave his way through political intrigue, courtroom machinations, and police skullduggery to save what’s left of the truth—and himself.
