Fairy tales, myths, legends… We all know how the story is supposed to go. But what if it didn’t? Veronica Bartles, author of the picture book, The Princess and the Frogs, and the young adult novel, Twelve Steps, encourages you to imagine new paths for stories you already know–including your own life story! It all starts with a simple question…“What if?”
In The Princess and the Frogs, Princess Cassandra desperately wants a pet frog. Unfortunately, she loves them so much that she can’t help kissing them goodnight. And everyone knows what happens to a frog when a princess kisses him! Kirkus Reviews calls it, "A refreshing princess book that puts kissing in its place and rejoices in childhood idylls.”
Veronica grew up in Wyoming and currently lives in Maryland with her family. As the second of eight children and the mother of four, she's no stranger to the ups and downs of sibling relationships. She uses this insight to write stories about siblings who mostly love each other, even while they're driving one another crazy.
$25 fee includes a signed copy of The Princess and the Frogs and a journal. RSVP to 410-377-2966 or MarthaAtTheIvy@gmail.com by June 23. Grades 3-5.
Veronica will also visit with fans and sign books from 11-11:30. This portion of the event is free and open to the public.
