Creating compelling characters is key for any story. Whether an animal, a person, or an alien from outer space, every character has its own story to tell. In this workshop, young writers will explore techniques for bringing their characters to life. Richie, who wrote the middle grade book, Maddy & Cole: The Food Truck Grand Prix, is a multi-genre, bestselling and award-winning author/illustrator of six books.
Maddy & Cole is an adventurous ride through the wild and delicious world of food truck competition. The siblings have their hearts set on taking home the trophy and the fortune that comes with it. However, winning is not so easy, and the duo encounter obstacles from over-the-top chefs to school bullies, and even their own self doubt. It's only when a family secret is revealed that Maddy and Cole understand there is more to running a food truck than simply working the grill. Sometimes it takes a little magic! Learn why no dream is too big to chase and why every underdog has a tale.
$25 fee includes a signed copy of Maddy & Cole and an Ivy Journal. RSVP to 410-377-2966 or MarthaAtTheIvy@gmail.com by July 15. Grades 3-6.
Richie will also visit with fans and sign books from 11-11:30. This portion of the event is free and open to the public.
