Enoch Pratt Free Library

Join us at the Pratt Central Library for an event honoring the Memory, Career, and Bequest of Henry Louis Mencken.

The Mencken Room is open to the public from 10 a.m to 5 p.m.

10:30 A.M., Mencken Society Annual Meeting - Wheeler Auditorim.

2p.m. The 2019 Mencken Memorial Lecture - Wheeler Auditorium.

Presented by Will Englund, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and former foreign correspondent in Moscow for both the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post. He is author of the highly acclaimed March 1917: On the Brink of War and Revolution, which explores events in Russian and the United States in the crucial Weeks before American entry into World War I. H.L. Mencken figures prominently in this story.

New exhibits to view: "The American Language: A Centennial Celebration", "Prejudices: First Series: A Centennial Celebration", "Mencken and the Treide/Wheeler Gift".
