The Ivy Bookshop at Mt. Vernon: Monument Lighting

On December 4th, The Ivy will launch a pop-up holiday bookshop inside the iconic Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church!

We’re kicking things off at The Mt. Vernon Monument Lighting this Thursday, December 4th:

• 12PM: The Ivy’s pop-up bookshop– and the church– open for browsing. The Ivy invites holiday revelers inside to explore, admire, browse, and imagine.
• 3:30PM: The Ivy at Mt. Vernon will serve as the jumping off point for a historical walking tour of Mt Vernon, developed by Chris Riehl at Baltimore-Rent-A-Tour. Tickets are available here. Email chris@rentatour.com with any questions.
• 6PM: Music by harpist Alyson Kanne
• 8:30PM: Carols with The New Choir of Mt Vernon – a vibrant community for new choral music.

About the current moment in the church’s life:

Acquired this summer by newly-formed UNITE Mount Vernon, the church has not been open to the public for more than a decade.

UNITE’s mission is to preserve, restore, and explore new purposes for this remarkable building – including as a dynamic cultural gathering space.

The Ivy Bookshop is excited to be a collaborator in this process of creative, community-oriented exploration.

The bookshop team will be re-imagining the church’s vestibule as an intimate holiday bookstore, and the sanctuary as a location for exploration and imagination inside the sanctuary’s soaring architecture.

The Ivy at Mt. Vernon – Hours of Operation:

December 4-21: Thursday-Sunday 12-6pm

December 22-23: 12-6pm

December 24: 12-3pm
