Jordan Tierney, artist and naturalist, invites you to follow the seasons with sketching and readings in the Ivy’s backyard. Deepen kinship with the natural world by surrendering to what a place can teach us. Slow down, observe, contemplate, and create art while becoming intimate with where our feet tread the earth. Re-wild your soul, let the Earth tell stories through you, and contemplate a symbiotic future on our planet.
We will wander the beautiful Ivy grounds along the Jones Falls then draw/paint/write in a journal as the seasons change the habitat around us. We will read excerpts from fiction, poetry, and non-fiction, aligned with what is going on with the earth at the time. Think bird anatomy, tree identification, Amitav Ghosh, Mary Oliver…
Through curiosity, focus, and experimentation we’ll become intimate with our fellow earthlings – trees, buds, birds, flowers, bugs, the sky, the river…. If you fall in love with a piece of ground- it loves you back.
Drop-in fall session meets from 9-11:00 on the first Saturday of the month – September 2, October 7, and November 4. All skill levels welcome- this is about looking and listening deeply!
$20 per class or take all 3 for $50
