The Banner Book Club: July Meeting

Nothing says Books, Baltimore, Community like a book club at your local news outlet! The Ivy could not be more excited to announce our partnership with The Banner Book Club.

By popular demand, our first book is Three Days in June by Anne Tyler, a native Baltimorean whose novels beautifully weave the fabric of our city into her storytelling. Join us at The Baltimore Banner to discuss the book, hosted by Banner columnist Leslie Gray Streeter.

The book club will feature an in-person gathering at The Banner offices with a Banner journalist where you can share in the thoughtful conversation and questions on your favorite books. The Banner Book Club is your chance to connect with fellow readers, explore Baltimore’s literary heritage, and engage with the trusted journalism that drives positive change in Maryland.

Leslie Gray Streeter is a Baltimore Banner columnist excited about telling Baltimore stories — about us and the things that we care about, that touch us, that tickle us and that make us tick, from parenting to pop culture to the perfect crab cake. She is especially psyched about discussions, no matter how big or small, that we don’t usually have. She is the author of the memoir Black Widow (Little Brown), Family & Other Calamities: A Novel (Lake Union), and the cohost of the podcast Fine Beats and Cheeses.

Anne Tyler was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1941 and grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is the author of more than twenty novels. Her twentieth novel, A Spool of Blue Thread, was short-listed for the Man Booker Prize in 2015. Her eleventh novel, Breathing Lessons, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1989. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
